The Road I Took Alone
The road I took was dark and steep,
With thorns that made my spirit weep.
No sign of light, no guiding star,
Just distant hopes that felt too far.
No hands to hold, no friend to cheer,
Though crowds stood close, none came near.
With broken sail and hungry soul,
I walked alone, I made it whole.
No bread to eat, no place to rest,
Still I moved on and did my best.
Each step was pain, each turn a test,
But fire within burned in my chest.
And what, you ask, did I then gain?
Not gold, nor gems, nor worldly fame.
But strength that grew through storm and strife,
And peace that lit my inner life.
A calm mind clear like morning dew,
A heart that beat both strong and true.
These things I found, not bought or sold
They're worth far more than coins or gold.
So if your path is cold and bare,
And no one seems to truly care
Walk on, for in that silent night,
You just might find your truest light.
